General Information
Our Weekly Schedule
Guests arrive on the early flight (departs Anchorage at 12:00 PM) on Peninsula airlines (Penair) on Saturday. We then take our guest to the lodge where they will change into their waders and fishing gear. We will fish our way up to the 5 star tent camp and have dinner at the tent camp on Saturday evening. We will then fish the upper river from our camp Sunday through Friday. Saturday morning we will leave camp early and get everyone back to town to change and get ready for their trip home.
Upper River Camp
Our 5 star tent camp is about 40 miles upriver on the Aniak. A stay at the deluxe outpost is the highlight of the week for our clientele. In addition to hot/cold running water & excellent shower facilities; you'll enjoy a great dining area, a generator for charging camera batteries, & carpeted weatherport tents with individual cots, sleeping bags, fresh linen, mosquito nets and individual heaters. The tent camp also has a drying tent for waders, jackets etc. as well as washers and driers for laundry. The Chef will deliver great meals in a remote camp setting, sure to please after a long day out on the river. We strive to make your wilderness experience a satisfying and comfortable adventure!
Fishing the Aniak Area with ARL
We share a Catch & Release philosophy here at ARL. However, for those that would like to keep fish to take home, we have vacuum processing & boxing available at the Lodge. ARL abides by & respects all legal limits on the waters we fish. We recommend viewing the AK Dept of Fish & Game Link on our website under Photos & More for the most accurate information on Catch Limits.
Climate
June through July typically has daytime temperatures range from 50F to 90F, with the possibility of rain. August through September daytime temperatures range from 30F to 80F, with the possibility of rain.
Clothing
Be prepared for a full range of weather conditions, from warm and sunny
to cool and wet. Layered polypropylene and fleece is best - limit the amount of cotton in your outdoor-fishing clothes. Long and short sleeve shirts are recommended, along with shorts and high quality rain hat and jacket. Additional items would be wool or fleece gloves, comfortable camp shoes and personal toiletries.
Wading
Fishing days will include Boat Drifting and Wading. Good, high quality chest waders are a must. Footwear should not be felt-soled due to the Alaska Dept. Fish & Game looming ban on this type of footwear.
We recommend Simms wading boots:

If you feel more comfortable with a wading staff, bring one, although most wading is easy and safe.
Miscellaneous
High quality polarized sun glasses and insect repellent with DEET.
Note
Aniak River Lodge will not be held responsible for loss or damage of
personal property, injury to participants, cancellations, or incur any costs resulting from delays due to unpredictable weather conditions.
